GPS (global positioning system) units are fast becoming a way of life. Many auto manufacturers are now offering "OnStar" (see last month's editorial!) and the price of small handheld units are now competively priced in the $100-$150 range. In addition, the Motorola cellphone, Model V-60X, has a built-in GPS (call 911 and you can be pinpointed to within 300 yards)...much better than the older "nearest tower" concept which could be up to 10 miles distant!

THE DECEMBER CLUB MEETING IS AN "EATIN' MEETIN' " (DEC 12TH)
The LARC Newsletter has been published each month (except during the club's "hibernation" period) since October 1986 (20 years minus 4) ! Zowie!!
Repeater Committee:
The Repeater Chairman stated at the November meeting that we are still awaiting word from SERA & interrested parties on the coordination efforts of our repeater.
Disaster Trailer Committee
: Project is on temporary hold until after completion of other major projects and committments.
EOC Kiosk Committee:
Progress is being made! The cabinetry is in the room and the old wall-hung table has been moved to the opposite corner. The Ham-radio cabinets should be in place shortly.
If my calculations are correct, this makes about my 183rd Newsletter that I have edited and published for the Lenoir ARC. This is based on 19 years (231 months) since the News-
letter's creation back in Oct 1986, minus about 4 years (48 months) that the club was in "hibernation". Talk about homesteading! I think I could give the Supreme Court Justices a run for their money!! Over the years, we have seen a lot of changes within our club...members come and go, the programs have become much more varied, ad infinitum. But one thing hasn't changed and that is our commitment to serve our fellow man!
