GPS (global positioning system) units are fast becoming a way of life.  Many auto manufacturers are now offering "OnStar" (see last month's editorial!) and the price of small handheld units are now competively priced in the $100-$150 range.  In addition, the Motorola cellphone, Model V-60X, has a built-in GPS (call 911 and you can be pinpointed to within 300 yards)...much better than the older "nearest tower" concept which could be up to 10 miles distant!

Whew!  January 2007 was a whirlwind month for me...one which was dotted, first with an unexpected operation and a five-day stay at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, then a couple trips back to see a Cardioligist and to perform post-operation checkups.  We were burning up the roads to Winston for awhile! And it's not over yet...as I must return on the 12th for yet another checkup to perform a Cat-Scan to see if the operation procedure was and is successful.  All of the foregoing modified my regular habits to no end and prevented me from meeting schedules (such as getting this Newsletter out on time...the 5th) and to get things done that I usually do. New projects (such as my NVIS Project antenna construction) is running behind on desired target dates.  Oh well, I can only hope and pray that the rest of February will be uneventful & quiet!!  Hi.
